Four things we get right before the panels ever leave the workshop
Every 6-9 kW heater and half-to-one-HP chiller is sized against the house meter and the standby set alike: its own breaker, a 30 mA ELCB, a soft-starting compressor and a 60-second delay before anything restarts after an outage.
Our wall build never changes: sheathing panel, rockwool at 50 mm, foil against vapour, then a ventilated 20 mm gap behind a cedar or thermowood face. Leave out the foil or close the cavity and mould appears behind the lining within two or three wet seasons.
Titanium heat exchangers, coated condenser coils and 316 stainless fittings go on any plunge chiller headed for Batakan, Manggar or the Klandasan waterfront.
600-900 mm panels join on cam-locks, the floor deck lifts out in one piece and the heater runs off a 32 A industrial plug: a day to strip it out, one to two more to stand it up again.

Eight stages between your first message and a working sauna
Each stage carries its own deadline, and nothing gets billed until you've signed off on the quote.
Tell us the compound or district, roughly what size room you have, and your PLN rating or genset capacity. Expect a call back from a project manager the same working day.
Three or four shots of the space and the distribution board are enough for us to give a first price band and a rough load estimate.

Three things that shape every quote we write for this city
Climate sets the baseline. Balikpapan sits at 24-31 degrees with humidity hovering near 80 per cent, and rain shows up in every month of the calendar, so the wall build-up always includes a foil vapour barrier and a 20 mm ventilation cavity, and nothing leaves our workshop for an outdoor position without a roof of its own. Salt air along the Batakan, Manggar and Klandasan waterfront is the other constant, which is why any plunge chiller headed that way gets a titanium heat exchanger and stainless hardware instead of the standard fit.
Housing stock is the second variable. Two-storey homes of 250-400 square metres in Balikpapan Baru and Grand City, plus the newer streets toward Sepinggan and Gunung Bakaran, tend to already carry 7,700-11,000 VA with a 10-20 kVA generator on standby, so a four-to-six-person cabin usually goes straight in. Older housing in Klandasan, Prapatan and Gunung Sari Ilir often still sits on 2,200-4,400 VA, and there we either price the PLN upgrade up front or steer the client toward a 1.7-2.4 kW infrared cabin instead.
Who's actually asking matters just as much. Expat households and project managers on one-to-three-year postings want something that leaves when they do, not a fixture that improves someone else's property. Facilities managers at oil, gas, coal and construction outfits are usually after recovery space for a rotation crew, where a sauna paired with two plunges might run sixteen hours a day and has to shrug off a power cut without complaint. Then there are hotels — in the city, in Samarinda, and increasingly around the new capital at Nusantara — and what they want is drawings, a fixed programme and a contractor whose people are actually based in Kalimantan.

What does a sauna project in Balikpapan actually cost?

Can the unit run off our compound genset instead of PLN?
Yes, provided the set has headroom. A four-person cabin at 6 kW plus a one HP chiller wants at least 10 kVA; an eight-person cabin at 9 kW with two chillers wants around 15 kVA. We also fit a soft start on the compressor and a delayed contactor on the heater, so the load doesn't slam back on the moment the genset picks up the air conditioning again.
We're two years into a company lease. Does the sauna come with us when we relocate?
That's exactly the case our modular range is built for. The panels lock together with cams, the floor deck simply lifts off the existing tiles, and the heater is a plug connection, so strip-out is a day and refit at the new address is one to two. See modular sauna.
Can you invoice against a purchase order and follow a procurement timeline?
Yes. We trade as a PT PMA and issue line-item quotes that hold up against a tender comparison; on corporate jobs, payment stages can be tied to the main contractor's own milestones. Drawings, load schedules and the handover file all come in English and Indonesian.
Do you only work in Balikpapan, or does that stretch to Samarinda and the IKN side?
It stretches further than just the city. Samarinda and Bontang sit on the toll road, and Nusantara and Penajam are reached over the Pulau Balang bridge or by ferry. Outside Balikpapan we fold the survey into a planned trip and list travel as its own line on the quote.
Our maintenance staff handle day-to-day upkeep. Do you still send a crew for the install itself?
Installation is always done by our own people out of the Balikpapan Selatan workshop, not handed off to a local agent. Once the unit is commissioned, we're glad to leave your in-house team with the wiring schematic and the service schedule so they can manage routine upkeep, and call us in only for warranty work or anything past routine servicing.
